During the 18th century, the time of Rob Roy McGregor the local outlaw, this was a hunting lodge on the Duke of Montrose estate. You can learn more about Rob Roy at a centre in Callander. Ponies belonging to Madeleine and Malcolm Paterson jnr were stabled here in the 1970's and represented Scotland in the Prince Philip Pony Club games and BSJA International junior jumping teams. This is where the name 'The Stables' is derived.
