Self catering countryside accommodation at Loaninghead Farm

The area of Loch Lomond and the Trossachs, Scotland's first national park, offers an ideal base for your vacation. With many natural landscapes of great beauty such as The Trossachs, Loch Lomond and the Lake of Menteith all nearby.

Aside from the magnificent hills, the panorama consists of a patchwork of farms and small villages all within a short distance of Loaninghead Farm. These include Balfron, Buchlyvie, Croftamie, Drymen, Fintry Killearn plus other rural villages in the Strathendrick area. At the heart of Drymen, our local village, is the village green. The green used to be a market square, dating back to the 17th century, but today you can hear the pipe band playing on Wednesday and Thursday evenings during the summer months.

At Lomond Shores there is free parking, Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park gateway centre, including tourist information, and is the resting place of 'The Maid of the Loch', a paddle steamer built in 1953 in Glasgow and is now being restored by volunteers. 'The Maid of the Loch' is a 500 ton boat sailed on Loch Lomond for 28 years and can be viewed by visitors. This is only a small part of the complex. There is also a large retail arcade with a wide variety of shops, the flag ship 'Jenners' from Edinburgh, a farmers market and a large outdoor childrens play area.

The castles of Stirling, Edinburgh, Inveraray and Culzean are within comfortable reach and, for those with grander tastes, so are Scone and Holyrood Palaces. If architecture is your thing then the Charles Rennie MacKintosh Hill House is well worth a visit. The architecture is stunning; being one of Scotland's best kept secrets.

We are 3 miles from Drymen where you'll find shops, tourist information, pubs, restaurants, post office, banks, pharmacy and libraries. All of our visitors are provided with an information pack on the area and if you would like any personal recommendations we're only too happy to help.
